Jinx Lennon and Miss Paula Flynn
Back to main page!
Jinx Lennon, punk poet, MC, musician, performance artist and stark raving madman, belts out his yarns of Irish life in his unmistakable Dundalk accent. He combines elements of magic, rawness and rage into a cascade of electro sound, accompanied by the sweet soulful voice of Miss Paula Flynn. Jinx is a true diamond in the rough. You may be shocked at first by the confrontational delivery, but you’ll hear the beating heart of a true poet who skilfully uses music to underscore his cautionary tales. Damien Dempsey described him as ‘The best lyricist in Ireland.’ He also peppers his songs with large dollops of humour.
With the punk-poetry comes a sound that is immensely musical. Much of the credit for this must go to of Miss Paula Flynn – the girl who sang ‘Lets Dance’ on the Ballygowan advert. Her honeyed vocals are an inspired contrast to Jinx’s raw intensity. Voted number 15 in the Irish Times Ticket list of top Irish acts, this is an act that must be seen live.“A brilliant soul singer, a cross between Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer, and Ian Paisley!” Keith Allen MOJO Magazine
“In the last two years I’ve been to maybe 10 gigs and 4 of them were Jinx Lennon’s” Christy Moore
Sligo Live Festival Club at the Clarence on Friday 23rd October at 11.45pm €15. Followed by Today’s sounds from festival DJ.
